Walk to raise awareness of domestic violence
Mutual Ground, the domestic violence shelter and sexual assault center in Aurora, will hold its 10th annual Walk for Hope at Blackberry Farm in Aurora.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, with registration starting at 8 a.m. at 100 S. Barnes Road. Breakfast, speakers, face painting, merry-go-round rides, and more will be available to walkers and their families.
Walk for Hope is one of Mutual Ground's largest fundraising events of the year, with more than 600 walkers and 30 sponsors, including the presenting sponsor Paylocity.
Every dollar raised helps Mutual Ground provide education, awareness and life-changing services that empower individuals, families and communities to end the cycle of domestic and sexual violence.
"We are always thrilled to have so many people walk together in solidarity against domestic violence," said Michelle Meyer, executive director for Mutual Ground.
"By coming out to walk, you are raising awareness of the issues surrounding domestic violence and helping support the important work we do."
Mutual Ground relies on the generosity of communities and individuals to continue improving the lives of those who seek domestic violence and sexual assault services for their agency. There is still time to create or join a team or donate to a current walker by visiting www.mutualground.org.
