Schaumburg hosts Public Safety Open House Sept. 30

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend its annual Public Safety Open House that will feature interactive demonstrations and exhibits from the Schaumburg Fire and Police departments.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Fire Station 51, 950 W. Schaumburg Road, and the police station, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road. This family-friendly event is free.

The fire department will offer tours of the fire station, perform extrication demonstrations, show off fire gear and equipment, allow children to spray a hose and climb on the trucks, as well as offer other fun, educational experiences.

The police department will have numerous displays of equipment and gear used by officers. Guided tours will be available inside the police department with educational and interactive opportunities available, including K-9 demonstrations, evidence collection and Taser presentations.

Police squad cars and other emergency equipment will be on display. Crime Prevention information and other materials about the department's programs and services will be available at the event.
