COD Students Creating Culinary Delights for Lunch, Dinner and the Market

College of DuPage students are serving up culinary creations this fall in Waterleaf and the Culinary Market.

The student-run Waterleaf serves fresh regional American cuisine prepared by students in the Culinary & Pastry Arts and Service classes. Lunch seatings are at 11:15, 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. on Thursdays and Fridays through Dec. 1. Featured fare this fall is American South, Sept. 7 to 22; New England, Sept. 28 to Oct. 13; Central Plains, Oct. 19 to Nov. 3; and Mid-Atlantic, Nov. 9 to Dec. 1. The cost is $17 for lunch, and menus can be viewed here.

Students in the International Cuisine class take guests on a gastronomic tour of the world with recipes celebrating the seasons and using the freshest ingredients. Dinners start at

7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 27 (Sicily), Oct. 11 (Oktoberfest), Nov. 1 (Burgundy), Nov. 15 (Global Street Food) and Dec. 6 (Eastern Europe). The menus can be viewed here, and the cost is $45, which includes a wine or beer pairing with the meal and tax.

Also in Waterleaf, advanced culinary students in the Contemporary Cuisine class prepare and serve a multi-course meal paired with appropriate wines. Seatings are at 6, 6:15 and 6:30 p.m., and dinners are on Thursdays, Sept. 14, 21 and 28; Oct. 12, 19 and 26; and Nov. 9 and 30. Menus do change and can be viewed here. The cost is $60, which includes tax.

The Culinary Market at Wheat Café, run by the Fast Casual class, will operate a quick-serve concept, where patrons can purchase breakfast and lunch items at the counter and then grab a table in Wheat Cafe. The market will also sell student-made baked goods and savories produced by several Culinary and Pastry classes. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Sept. 26 to Nov. 29.

Dedicated dining parking can be found by the entrance to the Culinary & Hospitality Center. Reservations for lunches and dinners are available through www.opentable.com.
