Century Oaks hosts third annual McTeacher's Night at Elgin McDonald's

Century Oaks Elementary School of District U-46 in Elgin held its third annual McTeacher's Night at the Elgin McDonald's located at 1165 N. McLean Blvd. on Wednesday, Sept. 13. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Century Oaks Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Fifteen teachers worked from the elementary school including Principal Dr. Andrea Erickson and Assistant Principal Mr. Martinez. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume - all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

The pie costume is always a big hit with the Century Oaks staff, Dr. Erickson, Mr. Martinez, and Mr. Tabares all took turns dancing around the restaurant encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie. They even took it outside where they were directing traffic into the restaurant.

A special thank you goes to school secretary Gia Mallinas, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Century Oaks Teachers and staff had a wonderful time raising funds for their school while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

Century Oaks raised $657 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the school. The school will be using the funds raised for PBIS rewards for their students.
