CLC to host Engineering Night
Students who have wondered what it takes to work in an engineering or computer science career, or who are curious as to what the professions entail, can come to the College of Lake County Thursday, Sept. 28, to learn about the careers and meet with representatives from area engineering schools.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in Café Willow on the CLC Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.
Engineering Night is part of the STEM Speaker Series - offering presentations on science, technology, engineering and math topics - which is free and open to high school students and their parents.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and attendees should sign in by 7 p.m. From 5:30-6:50 p.m., students can mix and mingle with professional engineers to learn about the various engineering professions such as civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, etc. A presentation covering the search process for engineering colleges begins at 7 p.m.
From 7:45-9:30 p.m., students and their parents may visit classrooms for three, 25-minute sessions to learn more about college and university engineering programs. Representatives from area schools will include CLC Engineering, Illinois Tech, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign.
Other schools include Bradley University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Southern Illinois University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The evening also includes information on the UIUC Engineering Pathways' guaranteed admission partnership with CLC.
