Moylan joins District 62 for Back to School Celebration

In an effort to advocate for local schools and welcome students back for yet another school year, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, joined Des Plaines Community Consolidated School District 62 to celebrate the beginning of the 2017 -2018 School Year at North Elementary School Monday, Aug. 21.

"It was great to see all the students and parents excited about getting back to school," Moylan said. "It is very important that we continue to support our children by encouraging them to work hard, stay in school and creating a comfortable and productive school environment."

Moylan joined School District 62 officials and other community leaders to welcome students back to North Elementary School in Des Plaines. The elementary school was ready for the kickoff event, equipped with a red carpet entrance for the students and a performance by the Iroquois Middle School Band.

Moylan, along with the other community leaders, passed out pencils to the students and offered words of encouragement and motivation.

"We have to always take care of our kids," Moylan said. "They are the future of our community, and we must continue to fully-fund their education so that they can receive every opportunity to succeed."

Moylan serves the 55th District, which includes portions of Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows and Chicago.
