Is the Electoral College any way to elect a president?
Local notable Matthew Streb will speak at a public forum analyzing the Electoral College at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave. in Geneva.
Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County, the forum is titled "The Electoral College: Is this Any Way to Elect a President?"
A faculty member at Northern Illinois University, Dr. Streb is one of the leading scholars on electoral politics. His research and writing analyzes components of the U.S. democratic system, challenging voters to rethink some of their assumptions. While he argues for a less burdensome system, with transparent, competitive elections, he is also realistic about the challenges of amending the Constitution regarding the Electoral College.
