Hanover Township to host health and wellness expo

Hanover Township, Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison, and Victory Centre of Bartlett will host the 14th annual "Just for the Health of It" community health and wellness expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Hanover Township William Tiknis Campus, 240 S. Route 59, Bartlett.

Free and open to the public, residents can take advantage of complimentary health screenings for blood pressure, hearing, cholesterol and glucose. The COVID-19 vaccine will also be available for eligible attendees at no cost.

"While the pandemic has consumed nearly all aspects of our lives, we can all agree a growing emphasis and appreciation for personal and public health has taken root over the last 18 months," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor.

"Whether it's learning more about the township's community health services in and out of the home, or connecting with resources from our local partners, I encourage all residents to stop by the expo."

Over the years, hundreds of residents have attended the expo to take advantage of the free health screenings and receive other important information on their overall wellness.

"The Victory Centre of Bartlett is proud to co-sponsor this important event," said Vicki Striegel, executive director of Victory Centre of Bartlett.

"The health expo has excellent programs and services for residents of all ages to take advantage of, and we are pleased to partner with the township and Commissioner Morrison on this great event."

In addition to the free health screenings, attendees will also be able to participate in raffles, chair massages and giveaways. Back again this year will be a kids' zone featuring a petting zoo and bouncy castle.

"One of the most important things we can do for ourselves and our families is to take a proactive approach to our physical and mental well-being," said Morrison.

"'Just for the Health of It' is an incredible opportunity for everyone in Hanover Township to take advantage of free health screenings, learn about resources in our area, and be inspired to adopt healthy habits to practice all year. I'm proud to be a co-sponsor this year."
