Carpentersville partners with Centegra to provide employees wellness education

The Village of Carpentersville started taking advantage of Centegra Corporate Health & Wellness' flexible employee health and wellness solutions in May and is already starting to see results.

"People are more curious and improving communication," said Jeffrey Monteleone, human resources director for the village.

The village is participating in Centegra's Worksite Wellness program to provide presentations relating to topics such as nutrition, stroke awareness, stress management and skin cancer.

Monteleone said the village chose Centegra because the health system has improved its presence in the community.

"Centegra's expansion has made it convenient for us. We want to invest in our employees, and Centegra has comprehensive offerings that let us do that," he said. "In the world of government, there are so many hats that we wear, and it's nice to have a partner who can help us accomplish everything we want."

A recent session focused on the benefits of gratitude. A Centegra wellness technician led a short presentation followed by a game where village employees drew something they were grateful for and their colleagues made guesses.

At the end of the session, Mark Self, assistant construction maintenance superintendent for the village, talked about how he's improved his outlook by thinking of three things he's grateful for at the start of every day. He said he's trying to get others in his department to do the same.

Monteleone said this is a good example of how he's seeing results among Carpentersville's workforce.

"One person making a tiny improvement can balloon out to large improvements when scaled to our full workforce," he said. "When managing risk pool margins, every little bit counts."

Centegra Corporate Health & Wellness can help build a culture of health in companies and positively affect the bottom line, said Matt Carlen, senior vice president Ambulatory and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

"The Worksite Wellness program is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Centegra has to offer to employers," Carlen said. "From on-site health clinics and annual flu shots to fitness programs and injury management, we offer a wide range of services that can be customized for organizations of any size."
