Experience history at Hainesville's Civil War Encampment, Battle

Hainesville's Civil War Encampment and Battle will let guests relive history from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.

The event will be hosted by the Northbrook Sports Club on the north end of the Northbrook Sports Club property, which is at 200 S. Hainesville Road, in Hainesville.

Highlights of the event will include military battles with infantry, artillery and cavalry; bivouacs and encampments; period dressed civilians who can answer questions about the times; portrayals of Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Ulysses Grant, Hainesville village founder Elijah Haines and others; medical displays and battlefield surgery; period music and sutlers (period souvenir vendors); food vendors; and local area history talks from the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum.

Admission and parking are free. Parking for visitors will be just south of Route 120.
