Woodland PTA Adds Teacher Relays to Sixth Annual ROAR Run

A teacher relay as well as a 5k and a 1 mile run/walk are part of this year's 2017 ROAR Run sponsored by the Woodland PTA on Sept. 29. The back-to-school event, which starts and ends at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee, is open to the public.

The course begins and ends at the school, but it will take participants behind the "back 9" trails of the Bittersweet Golf Course. New this year is a partnership between the PTA ROAR Run committee and Hi-Five Sports Gurnee to have ROAR Relays - a friendly competition for Woodland teachers and staff with classic, old-school relay races like a three-legged race and a potato sack race.

In addition to prizes for top finishers of the races, the event will feature a silent auction, food trucks, music, and booths from local sports teams and businesses.

The schedule is as follows:

3:30 p.m. - Pre-registered packet pickup and race day registration

4:30 p.m. - ROAR Relay starts

5:00 p.m. - 1 mile run begins

5:30 p.m. - 5k walk/run begins
