Sign up for library card for chance to win gift cards, movie passes

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Algonquin Area Public Library District is issuing a special invitation for all residents of their district to sign up for a library card. While supplies last, eligible residents will receive a Chipotle buy one/get one coupon and a sleek flashlight pen when they register for a library card in September. New cardholders can also enter a drawing for a $100 Meijer gift card, four AMC movie passes or a $25 Starbucks gift card. Winners will be notified Sunday, Oct. 1.

As a special feature, the library district is offering limited edition Teen Titan library cards to all cardholders. Current cardholders can "trade in" their current library card for this new high-energy design.

District residents can begin the process to get their library card by visiting www.aapld.org, clicking on "Your Library Card," and filling out the online form. New cardholders will need to stop by the library to pick up their card. Or just stop by either library location and speak with a staff member.

Through Sunday, Sept. 10, current cardholders can show their library card to staff members at either library location and pick up a small gift.

September is a great month to celebrate and explore the power of your library card. With access to books, DVDs, online resources, vocational training, study rooms, technology programs, crafting workshops and more, your library card is the most powerful card in your wallet.

The Algonquin Area Public Library District has 23,049 cardholders and serves more than 40,000 residents in a 30-square-mile area including portions of Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Cary, and Barrington Hills.
