St. Theresa School welcomes students to a renovated campus
St. Theresa School, 445 N. Benton St., Palatine opened its doors to new and returning students Monday, Aug. 28. The students arrived in anticipation of the building renovations and the start of a new school year.
According to Principal Mary Keenley, "The $10 million construction and renovation project would not have been possible without the generosity of members of St. Theresa Parish. We are blessed to have a school building in which a student's confidence, abilities, faith and personality will blossom."
Some of the renovations include updated lighting throughout the building, new heating and air conditioning, two new science labs, an outdoor butterfly habitat, technology lab, new library, oversized kindergarten classrooms, art room, music room, washrooms, multipurpose room equipped with a kitchen and round tables to promote inclusiveness during lunch.
In addition to the campus renovations, the school added five new teachers, bringing the total to 28 teachers and five instructional aides.
The enhanced curriculum brings an expansion to elementary Spanish beginning in kindergarten, laboratory science beginning in first grade, and the arts.
St. Theresa, celebrating its 63rd year as a school, welcomed 41 new families and 75 new students. With more than 365 students, St. Theresa School continues to be in a unique position of sustained growth in all grade levels.
