Locals and their canine friends unite at Bark For Life Sept. 24

Families and their furry friends will come together to celebrate the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers at the American Cancer Society Bark For Life of Kane County event on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave. in St. Charles.

By supporting the event, you can help the American Cancer Society save lives and help free the world from the pain and suffering of cancer.

The event will feature a short on-leash walk, dog games and activities including peanut butter lick contest, musical hoops, and a best trick contest. Dog vendors also will be onsite supporting the event.

"Bark For Life is an opportunity for the community to rally together and raise money for American Cancer Society while enjoying a fun day with their dogs," says Aurora resident Karen Reeves, a two-year cancer survivor and Bark For Life volunteer. "Community members should come to the event for any reason that speaks to them."

The event is part of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement which is the world's largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, we celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease today, fund cancer research that will help protect future generations, and provide critical patient services.

Take action this year and help make the cancer fight a priority with your canine friend by participating or donating to the Bark For Life of Kane County.
