Improv Playhouse offers Youth Suspense/Horror Film Workshop

Submitted by Improv Playhouse

Young people can get to the root of what scares them, create their own story, script it out, hunt locations, produce, direct, shoot and act in a six-week workshop for young filmmakers offered by Improv Playhouse.

Each film workshop will focus on film techniques which make suspense and horror such effective genres. Guided by Improv Playhouse resident professional film directors, students will devise their developmentally appropriate stories and launch their short film. The goal is to make the end product "festival worthy."

The workshop meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 21, at locations including Improv Playhouse at 116 W. Lake St., Libertyville, and Highland Park Community House, at 1991 Sheridan Road, Highland Park.

Now going into its 18th season, Improv Playhouse provides filmmaking and performing arts training to youth and adults.
