'Feast & Folly' at Renz Center's annual fundraiser Oct. 7
In celebrating 55 years of community service, Renz Addiction Counseling Center is hosting its 10th annual "Epicurean Delight" fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Elgin Community College.
Community residents are invited to attend and enjoy gourmet fare, raffles, and an hour of improv comedy featuring GreenRoom Improv.
GreenRoom Improv is an ensemble-based theater company that specializes in improvisation. They were founded by a group of Judson University students in 1999 because of the cancellation of the school's theater program. Since then GreenRoom has performed nationally for a wide range of audiences and events.
Tickets to "Epicurean Delight" are $90 per person. All proceeds benefit Renz Addiction Counseling Center's clinical and prevention programs. Group discounts are available by visiting www.renzcenter.org, in addition to early bird discounts until Friday, Sept. 15.
"Substance abuse is related to soaring health care costs, homelessness, criminal activity, and domestic disputes … it also has a dramatic effect on the children of our community," said Renz Center's Board President Brian Monson. "This fundraiser is important because it directly supports someone in treatment while at the same time makes an impact on the safety and wellness of our community."
An iPad, weekend getaway including hotel and Southwest Airline tickets, Walt Disney World tickets and more are just some of the items to be raffled off at this year's fundraiser. Community residents are invited to participate in advanced raffle sales; "Epicurean Delight" attendance not necessary to win. Raffle tickets are $10, five for $45, 10 for $80 or 13 for $100.

Renz Center provides a continuum of care dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of addictive behaviors related to alcohol, drugs, and gambling. Services range from prevention programs for youth in the schools to outpatient treatment programs for adolescents and adults. Priority is given to pregnant women and women with dependent children. Offices are located in Elgin, St. Charles, and Streamwood.
