Cary Parks offers Black Light Zumba, storytime yoga and more

The Cary Park District will host a variety of events and activities for younger children this fall.

Zumba Kids Black Light Party:

Zumba Kids features the famous Zumba Fitness music, rhythms, and beats broken into kid-friendly routines. Giving children the outlet to jump, dance, shake, and swing their hips, it's the perfect recipe for fitness fun. Be sure to wear neon or white and get ready to work out under a black light! This class for children ages 6 to 10 meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Community Center. Registration is $10 or $15 for nonresidents.

Little Sprouts:

In a small school setting, your child will have a social environment to support developmentally appropriate activities for the individual as well as the group. This program will provide hands-on experiences such as math, art, music, manipulatives, and dramatic play to enhance your child's independence through learning. This class is offered two days a week - register for one or both days. This class for 3-year-olds meets from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Sept. 11 to Oct. 23, and 9:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 13 to Oct. 18, at the Community Center. Registration is $99 or $149 for nonresidents.

Twos On Their Own:

Are you looking for your child to experience a social environment in a small school setting? This program will provide hands-on activities through art, music, manipulatives, and dramatic play to enhance your child's independence through learning. Register for one or two days a week. This class for 2-year-olds meets from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 23 to Oct. 24, and 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 14 to Oct. 19, at the Community Center. Registration is $75 or $113 for nonresidents.

Storytime Yoga:

The focus is on fun and movement in this introductory yoga class. During each class we will read a story and act it out through yoga poses allowing children to be more creative with their movement. This is a fun way for kids to move, play, and connect with other children while developing independence, balance, coordination and body awareness. This class ages 3 to 5 meets Thursdays, Sept. 14 to Oct. 19, at the Community Center. Registration is $38 or $57 for nonresidents.

Children's Yoga:

This beginner level class will be a fun exploration of yoga. Yoga promotes balance, coordination, concentration, and a positive, noncompetitive form of exercise and community. It helps children reduce stress and anxiety, as well as, boost confidence and positive self-esteem. Each child should bring a yoga mat. This class for children ages 7 to 12 meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 13 to Oct. 18, at the Community Center. Registration is $50 or $75 for nonresidents.

Mighty Kickers:

Introduce your 3- to 5-year old child to the sport of soccer. Children will run, kick, and learn the game. This fun program will allow your child to release energy, make friends, and keep moving. Players will be placed on a team prior to the first practice. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and should bring shin guards. This class meets from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 14, at Lions Park. Registration is $59 or $89 for nonresidents.

Toddler Time:

Here is a chance to spend quality time with your child enjoying an interactive program that includes circle time and free play. Your child will learn and grow through stories, songs, and visual stimulation. This class for children 12 to 32 months with parent meets from 9:15 to 10 a.m. Fridays, Sept. 15 to Oct. 20, at the Community Center. Registration is $45 or $568 for nonresidents.
