Seniors invited on guided forest preserve walks this fall

Seniors, come along on a leisurely guided walk through natural areas in the Kane County forest preserves.

Each month, Forest Preserve District naturalists lead a hike as part of our "Senior Stroll" program series. Along the walk, attendees learn about the natural and cultural history of the area.

"Senior Stroll" programs last about an hour, with social time and refreshments following the walk. These nature programs are free. Registration is not required.

The fall "Senior Stroll" series will start from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 7. This stroll will be held at Pingree Grove Forest Preserve, 14N187 Route 20, Hampshire.

It continues in October at Dick Young Forest Preserve, at 39W115 Main St., Batavia. This program will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 5. The next program will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 2, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.

Save the date for the year-end gathering from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Barbara Belding Lodge at Brewster Creek, 6N921 Route 25, St. Charles. Bring a store-bought holiday dish to pass. They will share food, fellowship and festivities at this annual Senior Stroll tradition.
