Veterans program Friday to offer job seeking services

The Elgin American Legion Post 57, 820 N. Liberty St., recently announced that the veteran's service program on the fourth Friday of each month has expanded to include services for veterans seeking current job openings.

They are joining with the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce and Elgin Community College in providing these services.

It will be 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the VFW Post.

A service officer from Kane County Veterans Service Office, service officer from Hanover Township, representatives from Hines Hospital V.A. Outreach program, and a veterans employment representative from the state of Illinois will provide information and assistance.

This service program is open to all military veterans with an honorable separation paper (DD214 or equal) and to survivors and or caregivers in need of sound advice on V.A. services and/or employment.

You need to bring: proof of honorable separation (DD214 or equal) and any paperwork on pending claims and/or death certificates.

There are no charges or fees. The services are free.

The American Legion building is ADA accessible. The kitchen is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
