Independence Day of Pakistan was observed in Glendale Heights with traditional zeal and fervour

The Pakistan Independence day mela and Festival celebration are by far the most outstanding festivity of the year in Chicagoland. Thousands of Pakistani Americans gathered in Glendale Heights, Illinois last Saturday to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was held on Camera Park, located at 101 Fullerton Avenue, Glendale Heights, IL 60139 organized by Suburban Pakistani American organization and Organize by Farah Bari and its team.

The organizer Fari Bari said "we had a large turnout more than past years, rivalling the Independence Day Mela and Festival traditionally the biggest such big event in the Chicagoland area. Our event is getting bigger and bigger every year "There is a large Pakistani community in Glendale Heights Illinois. A joyous spirit prevailed among the Pakistani people who came from far and near to participate in the mela some People came from different States. Many were waving huge Pakistani flags while others sported shirts with an imprint of the national flag. Many were dressed in green colored costumes

The Host of the event was Rahat Khan.The proceedings began with recitation from the Holy Qur'an by Ibrahim Khan with a very sweet voice. It was followed by the national anthems (American and Pakistan) sung by Emma Mall. Flags Hoisting ceremony held same time. The honor of Guard Performed by Glendale Heights police department. The Consul General of Pakistan Chicago, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Mayor of Glendale Heights Ms. Linda Jackson and several other local representative addresses on the occasion. Children's Cultural show & National songs was also performing at the event.

The Independence Day Mela featured live musical performances, Pakistani handicrafts, costumes and ethnic food. There was also a bazaar with clothing, jewelry, food and information booths on display. There were several kids' rides and entertainment for children throughout the day in an exclusive play area. Free Gifts were offers from local businesses to everyone. MK international, Majid Khan and its team Perform few Specials Dance.

The pop rock band Fuzon Band from Karachi, Chicago's rising star Emma Mall (TANHA fame), MK and many other local the singers with their thrilling performances. Fuzon was the main Performer at the Pakistani mela. Fuzon is a Kind of Sufi rock band presents several kinds of hits songs.

All music was composed by a local band.

At the end Sohail Bari (Organizer) and Farah Bari (Chief Organizer) thanked the audience for contributing to the success of the event. Mr. Bari also thank all sponsors for their support and hard work in making the event great huge success. The team consists of a Coordinator, Sohail Bari, Waqar Khan, Kashif Butt, Rahat Khan, Rizwan Khan, Sunny Khan, Anwar Khan Liaqat Khan, Anjum Khan, Sajji Malik, Adil Salam, Chand Sultana, Anjum Khan and many others

The main sponsors included RK travel Naila hair and beauty salon, Oak Brook Toyota, Mir foundation, A1 limousine service, Beauty by Shabana, Italian express restaurant, A1 tax return service and Sahara Asian elderly home

The admission was free but they charge $10 for each car and $3 for rent a Chair.
