Hanover Township tutoring program to begin for fall semester

As a new school year begins, it is also the start of more advanced and tougher homework assignments. There is no shame in seeking additional help, and no reason to break the bank obtaining assistance.

For $45 per semester, the Hanover Township Tutoring Services Program for students in second to 12th grade offers board-certified teachers who can teach and assist students with their academics. All children learn in different ways.

A small group tutoring session can make the difference on the next report card. Tutoring groups are developed based on age, subject matter, and learning needs that are identified by referring teachers.

"Last year, 244 students participated in the township's tutoring program," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township Supervisor. "I would encourage parents that have any concerns about their child's academic performance to contact the township and try our program."

The fall semester Tutoring Services Program begins Oct. 10. A parent orientation will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Streamwood High School's Sabre Center, 701 W. Schaumburg Road, Door No. 31, in Streamwood.

Children who attend regularly and bring their school materials/assignments to each session improve in academic performance and become more self-confident.
