Advocate Condell raises $135,000 for birthing center

On July 24, $135,000 was raised by 125 golfers and sponsors for the Women's and Infants Services at Advocate Condell Medical Center. The event was held at Ivanhoe Club and was hosted by Advocate Condell Medical Center and the Advocate Charitable Foundation.

The golf open specifically raised funds in support of a renovation of the birthing center, which includes the creation of a new family waiting room, an enhanced well-baby nursery that is equipped to serve as overflow for Condell's special care nursery, and an expanded Special Care Nursery with new individual neonatal rooms.

The renovation will allow Condell to care for more mothers and their babies, including those who face significant medical challenges.

Sara Marcy, nurse manager of Women's and Infants Services, spoke at the event about the impact of these enhancements.

"The renovation of the birthing center will no doubt be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but our purpose together is so much bigger … safety, comfort, privacy, convenience and peace of mind," Marcy said.

"And the renovation of our special care nursery will ultimately help us match our physicians' and nurses' expert care to the environment and facility that is truly needed."

Advocate Condell Medical Center thanks the sponsors who helped to make the event a success: Best Practices Inpatient Care, Lake County Anesthesiologists, Lake County Radiology Associates, Medical Staff of Advocate Condell Medical Center, Michuda Construction, Murphy Ambulance Company, Pepper Construction Group, Pulmonary Medicine Associates, and Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Services.

Condell also extends appreciation to auction contributors: The Dunes Club and Reynolds Lake Oconee.
