129th annual Fideliter 'Black and White Gala' gives back

Giving back never goes out of style. The Fideliter Club of Elgin, a nonprofit organization, will hold its 129th annual Charity Ball on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Royal Fox Country Club in St. Charles.

Fideliter Club members and guests will celebrate the club's philanthropic efforts of "Feeding Children" in the community. This year's ball is chaired by Kay Loeloff of Elgin.

The black-tie event will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m.

The cost is $150 or $300 per couple. For reservations or information, contact Kay Loeloff at (847) 217-1137.

"I am honored to follow in the footsteps of so many incredible women who have chaired this significant event over the years," Loeloff said.

Members of the 2017 gala committee are: Judy Hanlon, Linda O'Connor, Gini Shahzada, Linda Gruber, Betty Brown, Carri Laird and Jan McGrath.

The Fideliter Club is Elgin's oldest philanthropic organization founded in 1888. Through the proceeds of its annual charity ball, the Fideliter Club has made a substantial impact on feeding children in the greater Elgin area community.

"Our Black and White Gala promises to be a magical evening of friendship, dancing, dining and helping children," said Bonnie Henn Pritchard, Fideliter Club president. "We will also feature Dundee's Riley Elmore who appeared on 'The Voice' last year."

In addition, Henn Pritchard adds, "Our mission is to help ensure children in the greater Elgin area are not hungry. The support of our community along with the numerous volunteer hours by our members, makes me very proud to be a Fideliter."

Due to the success of last's year charity ball in raising $57,000, the Fideliter Club was able to donate a substantial amount of contributions in 2017 to the Food for Greater Elgin to purchase milk for the Milk2MyPlate program; Boys and Girls Club of Elgin for an acquisition of a van to distribute after-school meals to children at several schools; and the Northern Illinois Food Bank's Backpack Program.

In addition, club members host birthday parties at the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin for 240 children each year. The club will provide 1,500 "Birthday Bags" for children to celebrate their birthday. The bags include a cake mix and frosting, birthday decorations, candles and balloons.

Fideliter Club 2017 officers are: president Bonnie Henn-Pritchard, Kay Loeloff, Keli Nitsschke, Linda O'Connor, Gini Shahzada, Marlene Ahrens, Jennifer Colby, Patti Esposito, Kim Lyons, Betty Brown, Nancy McKenna, Colleen Colligan, and Jan McGrath.
