Advocate Sherman's 'Music by the Water' event funds music care program for patients

Elgin, Ill. - On Sunday, Aug. 27, Advocate Sherman Hospital and the Advocate Charitable Foundation will be hosting "Music by the Water" from noon to 3 p.m. on the hospital's lakeside terrace, 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin. Now in its seventh year, "Music by the Water" raises funds for Advocate Sherman's Musicians Care program.

"Music by the Water" offers live entertainment, food and drinks overlooking the geothermal lake on the hospital's campus.

Performing will be area band Smokin' Gunz, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra-affiliated Moeller Cello and Guitar Duo, and The Moonlighters, a band of Sherman physicians. There also will be audience participation line dancing.

"Music by the Water has been a huge success here at Sherman for the past 7 years," remarked Dr. Savitha Susarla, family medicine at Advocate Sherman Hospital and chair of the event, "The donations received for this event will be used toward having the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and a therapeutic musician play at Sherman throughout the year."

The Musician Care program has an Elgin Symphony Orchestra quartet play at the hospital and Advocate Sherman West Court every week to play music for patients and families. It also provides a therapeutic musician every Tuesday.

Sponsored by local physician practices, businesses, Sherman associates and community members, the event's two major sponsors this year are Illinois Gastroenterology Group and CEP America.

Tickets are available by contacting Mary Kay Moersch with the Advocate Charitable Foundation at mary.moersch@advocatehealth.com or (224) 783-2500. For further information, visit www.advocategiving.org/MBTW.
