Soiree Lyrique to hold auditions Sept. 9

On Saturday, Sept. 9, Soiree Lyrique will hold auditions in the afternoon for a staged production of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" ("The Bat").

The opera, which will be performed in English, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, in Elgin.

Looking to cast paid lead singers and understudies as well as choristers. Stipend available for travel expenses for choristers, especially male voices.

Also considering new singers for two productions of opera excerpts to be scheduled in the spring. Rehearsals are held in West Dundee and Elgin.

A $10 audition fee is required to pay for the provided pianist.
