CLC Gallery of Art announces 2017-18 exhibits

The College of Lake County's Robert T. Wright Community Gallery of Art has announced its exhibit calendar for the 2017-18 season. This year's shows will include Dan and Caroline Anderson's Warren Mackenzie Collection of pottery, paintings by Roland Kulla and photographs by Erick Rowe and Mark Alan Francis as well as works by artist members of the gallery and CLC art students.

Opening receptions are held from 6-8 p.m., are free and open to the public and include live music and refreshments. Please park in Lot 1 on the north side of campus and enter through the Technology Building entrance (T1). The college is located at 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

The CLC Gallery of Art will present the following seven exhibits during the 2017-18 academic year:

Sept. 1 to Oct. 7: Erick Rowe: LumiƩre Horizon. A collection of photographs exploring concepts across the United States and how these illusionary spaces reflect the desires of society. Rowe is a full-time photography instructor at CLC. Reception: Friday, September 1, 6-8 p.m.

Oct. 13 to Nov. 11: Recent Works: A Juried Competition. The 37th annual competition includes all fine art media and is open to all artists who live or work in Lake County. Approximately $2,000 will be awarded in cash prizes and purchase awards for the college's art collection. Reception: Friday, Oct. 13, 6-8 p.m.

Nov. 17 to Jan. 13: Dan and Caroline Anderson's Warren Mackenzie Collection. Featuring more than 60 ceramic pieces created by the world-famous potter, Warren Mackenzie. Reception: Friday, Nov. 17, 6-8 p.m.

Jan. 19 to Feb. 17: Members Exhibition. Enjoy a diverse group show composed of all types of fine art, created by Lake County artists who are members of the gallery. Reception: Friday, January 19, 6-8 p.m.

Feb. 23 to March 24: Roland Kulla Paintings. Paintings of the urban landscape, with an emphasis on bridge structures. Reception: Friday, February 23, 6-8 p.m.

April 6 to May 5: Student Art Competition. A juried exhibit by current CLC art students featuring painting, drawing, computer graphics, photography, ceramics, jewelry, digital media and sculpture. Approximately $1,200 will be presented in cash prizes and purchase awards. The Lake County Art League will sponsor a $500 scholarship. Reception: Friday, April 6, 6-8 p.m.

May 18 to Aug. 18: Mark Alan Francis: Rituals. This photographic exhibit explores the nation's rituals and communal gatherings that generate a social harmony within communities by individuals participating and performing in public celebrations. Reception: Friday, May 18, 6-8 p.m.
