Aurora Scouts scoop ice cream in fundraiser

Boy Scouts in Blackhawk Troop 11 held its 38th annual ice cream social benefit Sunday, Aug. 13.

The event at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, where Troop 11 and Cub Scout Pack 321 meet, benefited the Scouts and the church's outreach program.

Providing music was the Town Band, an Aurora-based septet with saxophones, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba. Soloists were featured.

In addition to ice cream, homemade pies, cakes and brownies were served by Scouts. Coffee and lemonade were available.

Founded in 1916, Troop 11 is the second oldest Boy Scouts of America troop in Illinois. It celebrated its centennial last June.
