Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission to host Resource Fair Friday

U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) will bring his Traveling Help Desk to the Kane County Veterans Assistance Commission Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.

Staff experts will be available to address any issues veterans and their families may have with federal agencies, listen to their concerns and deliver those concerns directly to the Congressman.

Staff can give assistance regarding Social Security benefits, Medicare, Veterans Affairs, U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services, international travel, the Internal Revenue Service and more.

"Our veterans deserve our respect and care, and I look forward to providing assistance to 14th District veterans and their families at this resource fair," said Rep. Hultgren. "If you're having trouble with your VA benefits or navigating the confusing federal bureaucracy, I urge you to stop by my Traveling Help Desk to get help."

The event will feature representatives from Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, the Fox Valley Park District and 40 resource vendors to provide services to the veterans.

Shortly after the Resource Fair, Hines VA will hold a town hall meeting from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. to inform local veterans about their benefits and services available.

Eligible veterans will have the opportunity to enroll in VA health care and obtain the veteran designation on their Illinois driver's license.
