Northwest Suburban Bar Association hosts annual golf outing
Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington held this year's annual Northwest Suburban Bar Association golf outing on Aug. 10, 2017. Attendees of this event were treated to lovely greens and grounds, while enjoying 18 holes on the links. The non-golfers competed in a bags tournament, while others enjoyed a wine event.
This year's co-chairs were Rebecca Zeilenga and Lance Ziebell.
"We were very pleased that so many of our members took the time to support our organization and are happy that everyone had such an enjoyable day," Zeilenga said.
The title sponsors for this event were Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund Inc. (ATG) and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Mike Rooney from IICLE and John O'Brien from ATG were on hand to greet people and enjoy the day. Petra Title sponsored lunch overlooking the course, allowing participates to socialize before the shotgun start, and Steward Title sponsored the dinner for over 120 guests, rounding out a busy day.
"We are always happy to sponsor and support NWSBA events, and always have a great time doing so," Rooney said.
This year's mixed foursome winners included Allen Gabe, Bill Lucan, Cyndi Lucas and Liz Maynard with a score of 62. The men's best score was 62 from the foursome of Steve Gorzak, a sponsor from Marlin Marketing, Darren Ford, Steve Roesch and Phil Loughran.

Once again, the bags tournament proved to be a popular event, and after much friendly competition, Angel and Troy Traub were the victors.
"It was a wonderful day to toss bags, and personally, I was overwhelmed by the accuracy of some of the participants. I love that the golf outing has added other events for those that do not wish to golf; this way, it includes even more people in the fun" said Bill Kelley, former NWSBA President.
The wine event portion of the day provided relief from the heat and an opportunity to casually network and enjoy the company of colleagues.
"Mimi (Cooper) and I are gratified with the number of members who supported our wine event and then stayed for dinner. You know your event is successful when the attendees are having such a marvelous time that they don't want to leave. Including other non-golf options are important, and seeing the number of people that enjoyed the wine event, I'm sure it will continue in future years," said Anna Bush, co-sponsor of the wine event with Miriam Cooper.
NWSBA President Jay Andrew welcomed all of the attendees to the dinner that followed the sports portion of the day and thanked each of the sponsors including Title Sponsors Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Lunch Sponsor Petra Title and Dinner Sponsor Stewart Title.
"We are grateful for all of our sponsors that make events such as this possible, and for the tireless work and dedication of our Golf Committee and staff. All of the hard work pays off when our events run smoothly and everyone enjoys themselves," said Andrew.
The grand raffle prize of a Radio Flyer wagon filled with premium wine and liquor, restaurant and merchant gift cards and a golf foursome, donated by Makray Memorial Golf Club, was won by Gary Newland. The lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle that raised $1,000 over the course of the day went to Cody Preucil.
The Good Law Firm, Farmers Insurance and Steward Title each provided a raffle item.
Plans for the 2018 NWSBA Golf Outing are already underway.
