Islamic youth program donates backpacks in Hanover Park

Al-Huda Youth Program, a big brother/big sister mentorship program, has donated 100 backpacks filled with supplies for underprivileged students in Hanover Park.

The program aims to help youth balance their Islamic values while facing the challenges of today's environment.

The youth members presented the backpacks to Hanover Park Mayor Rodney Craig and the village board on Aug. 3.

Program members had held a backpack drive at Masjid Al-Huda near Schaumburg and asked family, friends and neighbors to contribute in any way they can.

They partnered with Hanover Park's Cultural Inclusion and Diversity Committee (CIDC) on the backpack drive.
