Maine West Class of 1967 to celebrate 50th reunion

The 1967 class of Maine West will celebrate its 50th reunion the last week of September. All members of the class are invited to join the festivities.

The fun kicks off with the school's homecoming game at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at the school football stadium. Class members will meet at the reunion tent that will be set up near the football stadium. After the game classmates can visit a local restaurant or bar of their choice.

On Friday, Sept. 29, a social get together will be held at Giuseppes La Cantina from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at 1062 Lee St., in Des Plaines. Regular menu items will be available for purchase and a cash bar will also be available.

For those interested, maps will be available Friday evening for a self-guided driving tour of Des Plaines. Classmates will use their own vehicles and take the tour at their leisure.

Saturday, Sept. 30, school tours will be conducted starting at 11 a.m. Classmates will meet in the school cafeteria at 10:45 a.m. for the 45-minute tour, which will highlight the changes to the school since 1967. There is no charge for this event.

On Saturday evening, the major event of the reunion will be held at Friendship Park Conservatory, 395 Algonquin Road, Des Plaines. A buffet dinner will be offered and a cash bar will be available. A DJ will also play favorites from the 1960s.

Special hotel rates will be offered at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 2550 Landmeier Road, Elk Grove; (847) 593-6200. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service between the airport and also to and from the Conservatory Saturday evening.
