Job fair slated in Villa Park
Jobseekers can get a leg up on the competition during a job fair next month at the Odeum in Villa Park.
The fifth annual fair, sponsored by state Sen. Tom Cullerton, area chambers of commerce and the Illinois Department of Employment Security, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Odeum Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave. The fair is free and open to all businesses and jobseekers.
Cullerton, a Villa Park Democrat, is recruiting employers and organizations to participate in the fair. Companies interested in joining should visit www.SenatorTomCullerton.com or call his Villa Park office at (630) 903-6662 to register.
Some businesses already registered include SWC Inc., Tri-Town YMCA, First Student and DuPage Electrical Apprenticeship IBEW Local 701.
The businesses will be looking for qualified candidates, accepting resumes and giving on-the-spot interviews.
"The key to growing our economy is helping DuPage County residents find jobs right here in Illinois," Cullerton said. "Our annual job fair matches local jobseekers with area employers who are looking to hire right now. I encourage area residents who are looking for work, or simply looking for a new opportunity, to take advantage of this free resource."
Veterans seeking jobs will be admitted at 10 a.m., before the event begins for the general public.
The fair is co-hosted by the Addison Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce, Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, Choose DuPage, Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce, Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce, People's Resource Center, Roselle Chamber of Commerce and the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce.
