Tri-Cities Little League's All-Star Majors Softball team advances to state tournament

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. - Tri-Cities Little League's All-Star Majors Softball team is advancing to the Illinois State Majors Softball Tournament after a dramatic, 10-9 walk-off victory versus Elgin Classic in the District 13 Championship game on July 8.

The victory over Elgin Classic, the defending District 13 champions, represents the first time in TCLL history that a Majors Division softball team, featuring 12 players, has advanced to the state tournament.

"This championship is a culmination of the dedication and hard work from our players to become a championship-quality team. This was a hard-fought, back and forth battle against Elgin Classic and one of the most competitive games I have been involved with," said Manager Jason Cook. "We are not only excited for our team in the upcoming state tournament, but what it represents for TCLL's softball program as a whole."

"Elgin Classic kept coming back and put the pressure on us. To have a championship game that is tied going into the bottom of the final inning shows all the girls came to battle on both teams," said assistant coach Chris Robertson. "You have to be proud of all the girls and how they all came together as a team."
