Jazz & Wine Festival at Deer Park Aug. 5

The sixth annual Deer Park Jazz and Wine Festival will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Deer Park Town Center, and will feature Frank Catalano and Jimmy Chamberlin as the headliners.

Catalano is a Grammy Award-winning artist who first started playing with Tony Bennett, Miles Davis, Louie Bellson and others, all before the age of 17. He and Chamberlin, one of the founding members of Smashing Pumpkins, have released three chart-topping records; the most recent one called "Bye Bye Blackbird" is No. 1 on the iTunes sales charts and the Billboard Jazz Charts.

The festival will also include Judy Roberts with guest vocalist Wayne Messmer; the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory; Tim Fitzgerald's Full House, a Tribute to Wes Montgomery; and the Lowdown Brass Band. The Deer Park Jazz and Wine Festival is produced and programmed by Triple Crown Events and Chicago Jazz Magazine, and sponsored by the Village of Deer Park, Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano, Equilibrium Personal Training Studio, Midtown Athletic Club in Palatine, Daily Herald Media Group, WDCB News and Arlington International Racecourse.

The performance schedule is as follows:

• 12:30-1:40 p.m.: MYA Conservatory Band

• 2:15-3:30 p.m.: Judy Roberts featuring Wayne Messmer. Wayne Messmer is the official anthem vocalist for the Chicago Cubs and is a radio and television personality. He performs at over 70 Cubs games throughout the season.

• 4-5:15 p.m.: Tim Fitzgerald's Full House Tribute to Wes Montgomery

• 5:45-7 p.m.: Lowdown Brass Band

• 7:30-9 p.m.: Frank Catalano and Jimmy Chamberlin.

The festival takes place in the Gazebo area. Limited seating will be available and attendees are advised to bring their own chairs. Outside alcoholic beverages and coolers are not permitted in the shopping center and at the event. Food, fine wine and craft beer will be available for purchase, cash only. There is no cost to attend the Jazz & Wine Festival. The festival welcomes guests of all ages; free face painting and balloon artist will be on-site for children from 2-4 p.m.

Deer Park Town Center is at the corner of Rand Road and Long Grove Road in Deer Park.
