Inaugural motorcycle ride Sept. 16 to benefit Camp Big Timber

The Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts of America will offer "2017 Camp Big Timber Ride," its first motorcycle ride fundraiser, on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The ride will start from the Fox River Harley-Davidson on Randall Road in St. Charles to Camp Big Timber in Elgin on a pleasant country route.

The ride will last over 90 minutes heading through the countryside west and north from St. Charles to eventually finish at Camp Big Timber. Once there, participants will be treated to a cookout, program including some biker vs. Scouts activities and for the more adventurous, camping and an evening adult cracker barrel if you choose.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m., followed by a Blessing of the Bikes at 10:15 a.m. The ride starts at 10:30 a.m. It will be held rain or shine.

Cost for riders through Sept. 15 is $20, $5 for passengers. An optional add-in is overnight camping for $5 per motorcycle. Prices may be higher for walk-up on the day of the ride.

Cost for Scouts, Units and nonriders through Sept. 15 is $7; $5 for seniors, age 62 or older; or $25 for a family (parents and children in a single-family household). It is $5 per Boy Scout individuals to a maximum of $60 per unit.
