WACO's Wingfest to Decide Who's Wings Are the Best in the 'Burbs?

You can help determine which restaurant has the suburbs' tastiest wings at WACO's 17th Annual Wingfest and Bags Tournament. The Woodfield Area Children's Organization charity fundraiser takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, at Drink, 871 E. Algonquin Road, Schaumburg.

Wingfest guests will enjoy unlimited wings, two drink tickets, eating contests, live music and a bags tournament.

Fifteen restaurants have signed up to compete for the highly coveted Thighsman Trophy and title of Best of the 'Burbs. This year's competitors are: Adobe Gila's, Assembly Bar & Grill, GameWorks, Garsillo's Italian Bar & Grill, Harold's Chicken Shack, The Hideout, JL's Pizza & Sports Bar, Moretti's, Neighborhood Inn, Rack House Kitchen/Kinfork BBQ & Tap, Real Time Sports Bar, Rosati's on Wise, defending champion Sweet Caroline's and Tap House Grill.

The crowd will vote which restaurant has the best mild, hot, BBQ and creative wings. They'll also name the messiest wings, and one restaurant will win the People's Choice award.

A blind taste test will determine which restaurant's wings are the "Best of the 'Burbs". The winning restaurant will take home the coveted Thighsman Trophy. The judges for this include Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson, Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod, Weber Grill Executive Chef Dustin Green, Daily Herald Writer Eric Peterson and Kent Welch of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Rotary.

Wingfest features live music by The Big Richards. Eating contests participants will vie for the titles of Lord and Lady of the Wings, while the winners of the bags tournament will split a $200 grand prize. WACO will also award tons of raffle prizes, including a very special "Chicken Cash-a-tore" prize.

Your $35 admission includes two drinks and all the wings you can eat. There is an additional fee for the bags tournament. A limited number of reserved cabana seating for 10 is also available. Get your tickets at waco4kids.thundertix.com. Wingfest is a 21 and older event.

WACO is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving disadvantaged children in the Northwest and Western suburbs since 1979. One hundred percent of Wingfest proceeds will go to help children in need.
