Norris Cultural Arts Center plans dinner-theater benefit to celebrate 40th anniversary

The Norris Cultural Arts Center invites the community to join in a celebration of its 40th anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles.

The evening will feature a dinner-theater experience with a full buffet dinner including choice of entrees, combined with a professional production of the popular musical play, "Forever Plaid," directed by Konnie Kay Sherry and produced by Encore Theatre Productions.

Attendees also will have an opportunity to further support The Norris by participating in a raffle of valuable prize baskets, themed to appeal to a variety of interests. The event also includes pre- and post-dinner live music, exhibits of art and relevant historical artifacts and photos, and an open bar featuring premium wines and beers.

"We invite all supporters of the performing and visual arts to attend this event and celebrate the past, present and future of the community's cultural cornerstone, the Dellora A. Norris Cultural Arts Center," said James L. Collins, Norris board chairman.

Funds raised at the event will support the operations of the Norris Cultural Arts Center, a qualified nonprofit organization.

The Norris soon will announce plans for its upcoming 40th anniversary season, including the fourth season of its "Music in the Gallery" concert series and a variety of art gallery exhibits.

Named for its benefactor, Dellora A. Norris, who with her husband Lester Norris donated the funds and land for the center's construction, The Norris opened in early 1978 and has hosted thousands of performances and hundreds of art gallery exhibits throughout its history.

Seating for the 40th anniversary celebration event is limited to 150.

Tickets are available online at norris-cultural-arts.ticketleap.com or by calling The Norris at (630) 584-7200.

The Norris also welcomes the financial support of anyone who cannot attend.
