25th annual State Championship Chili Cook-off returns July 29

Know what is cold and warm at the same time? Chili! The Batavia Park District and Batavia Chamber of Commerce will host the 25th annual State Championship Chili Cook-Off from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Batavia Riverwalk. Come eat amazing chili, or for those that have a delicious recipe for chili, enter in the competition.

The chili tasting is open to the public and admission is free!

Participants from all across the state will take part in the Chili Appreciation Society International championship cook-off in hopes of qualifying for the national championship in Terligua, Texas.

Participants may also choose to enter in the traditional chili division.

Only CASI contestants will be eligible for the state title. There will be many awards such as the People's Choice, Showmanship and much more to earn beyond the state title.

Registration can be completed online at www.bataviaparks.org or by calling (630) 879-5235. You may also register on-site. All chili must be made on site, so bring your apron!

A small donation is encouraged for those who just want to sample chili. The chili sampling is from 2 to 3 p.m. while supplies last. Concession also will be available courtesy of Bernie's Bully Dogs.
