Join a 'Bat Watch' with forest preserve district naturalists

If you're an insectivorous bat, or someone who is interested in them, the fun begins at dusk.

Join naturalists from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County for "Bat Watch" programs.

Participants will look for bats using a special "bat detector." The device uses echolocation to identify a bat's location by their reflected sounds. They also will play games and learn about bat ecology during these fun, all-ages programs.

"Bat Watch" programs are scheduled Tuesday, July 25, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles, and Saturday, July 29, at Binnie Forest Preserve at 38W040 Binnie Road, West Dundee. Each hour-long program begins at 8 p.m.

Although "Bat Watch" programs are free, advance registration is required. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.
