Elmhurst Block to Block concerts on July 19

With two more weeks remaining in the Block to Block Party summer concert series, the Elmhurst City Centre is bringing original pop/rock music to one stage and on the other a tribute to the music of the '90s.

The concerts are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the City Centre Plaza, 147 N. York Road, and the Elmhurst 255 Plaza, 255 N. York Road, Elmhurst.

Fans can relive the '90s at the City Centre Plaza as My So Called Band pays tribute to the decade. After years of receiving '90s requests while playing as an acoustic trio, lead singer Jessica Moran knew she wanted to form a group that would specialize in just that. She believes the band is unlike other '90s tribute bands.

"We don't limit ourselves to any specific genre of the '90s. We cover all of it, from grunge rock to cheesy pop," Moran said. "It's all in there."

Expect to hear Spice Girls, the group's favorite to cover, and many more '90s hits.

Performing at the Elmhurst 255 Plaza is the Owen Stevenson Trio, starring Chicago-based and Indiana University alum Owen Stevenson. Stevenson is an acoustic singer/songwriter who released his original gentle pop/rock album "Right Here And Now" in June 2016 to critical acclaim.

He has performed at premiere venues in Chicago such as the Cubby Bear and the Hard Rock Café.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the concert on the lawn at the Elmhurst 255 Plaza.
