Fireworks to follow West Chicago concert

Summer fun at The Shell, West Chicago's new outdoor entertainment venue in Reed-Keppler Park, continues with a concert series, movie night, fitness classes, youth entertainment and more.

A 30-minute fireworks show has just been added on the evening of Wednesday, July 26, to follow a performance from 7 to 8:30 p.m. by country cover band Hey Cowboy. The addition of the fireworks, which are scheduled from 9 to 9:30 p.m., was made possible through the combined efforts of the city of West Chicago and the West Chicago Park District, which partnered to bring The Shell to the community.

Already, The Shell has been host to a number of local bands like Girl and the Gang and the Leman Mariachi Band. The remaining summer lineup includes jazz, salsa, classical and mariachi music.

"This is the result of government partners working together for the community they serve," Mayor Ruben Pineda said. "It will be a wonderful night under the stars, and we hope everyone comes out to enjoy it."

The Shell is at 129 W. National St., just east of the ARC Center and Turtle Splash Water Park. For information about The Shell, or to see a detailed schedule of events, visit we-goparks.org/.
