Hoffman's Party in the Park to Feature Multi-Cultural Entertainment

The community is invited to Fabbrini Park (1704 Glen Lake Road) on Saturday, August 5 from 3-8:30 p.m. for the annual Party in the Park, hosted by the Hoffman Estates Park District. The event will feature many popular attractions including live music, games, food and activities. New this year is a community walk that will be held prior to the event at 2 p.m. Throughout the day, party-goers will enjoy the return of multi-cultural performing groups, presented in part by the Village of Hoffman Estates.

"Party in the Park is like a giant block party, but we do all the work," said Dean Bostrom, park district executive director. "It's a great, inexpensive way for our families to spend a summer evening outdoors, just having fun."

Parents will find everything they need to keep their family happy from food, beer and entertainment for all ages, include children's games, family crafts, a petting zoo, pony rides, pickleball, inflatables and a 24-foot climbing wall. The beer tent is hosted this year by First Place Sports Bar.

A few new things are in store for attendees. A community walk around the park starts at 2 p.m. by the tennis courts. Everyone who participates in the walk will receive a small gift. Also new is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a zipline.

The event is open to the public from 3-8:30 p.m. Admission is free. Wrist bands will be available for $10 that will include all activities.

Kids of all ages will love the "throw-back" old-fashioned games such as tug-of-war, potato sack races and 3-legged races.

Throughout the day, quench your appetite and thirst at the food tent, which will be expanded this year to include more food vendors with a greater variety of options. At 7 p.m. the evening will draw to a close with live music performed by country band "Wild Daisy."

"We've definitely packed a lot of excitement into a day," said Mike Kies, director of recreation and facilities. "But I'm sure no one will mind going home exhausted."
