Help 'Raise the Roof' on South Elgin pavilion

To help feed local children summer lunches, the South Elgin Food Pantry at Community United Methodist Church is building a pavilion in its side lot.

The Summer Food Program, in its second year in South Elgin, provides prepackaged nutritious lunches for area children in the summer who may be missing the lunches they get during the school year at their school.

Through donations from the church, a concrete pad was poured and picnic tables were built as part of an Eagle Scout project.

Costs for a completed pavilion are estimated at $12,000.

Already three-quarters of the amount has been raised by the church: more than $9,000.

If you would like to help raise the rest of the amount, visit the GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/cumc125pavilion.

Or donations would gladly be welcomed at the Community United Methodist Church, 400 W. Spring St., South Elgin. Checks should made out to CUMC.

A mailbox is always available outside the doors, or someone is in the office 9-11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
