Strengthen community spirit at National Night Out

Socialize with neighbors, get to know local law enforcement and build community spirit as Schaumburg Park District celebrates National Night Out.

The free annual event takes place 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 1 at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

Community members may visit with Schaumburg Police Department officers who will provide information on crime and drug prevention. Attendees also will enjoy games, contests, sidewalk chalk play and a D.J. Open swim in Meineke Pool will be available from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"This national event is a great opportunity for the community to come together and meet those who serve and protect us," said Mike Wold, manager of Meineke Recreation Center.

Barbecued concessions and beverages will be available for purchase.
