Summer's End Art Opening: Textiles, Prints, & Sculpture by Barbara J. Schneider

RIVERWOODS, IL - Summer rarely seems to last long enough. As the sunny season begins to wind down and we begin to remember that Fall, with its muted color palettes and sweater-inducing weather, is fast approaching, it is good that we pause to appreciate what little true summer we have left. Artist, Barbara Schneider, captures these memories of summer in her exhibition, Summer's End.

Schneider incorporates a variety of different mediums into the exhibit-including textiles, prints, and sculptures-and explores the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, finding beauty in objects that are imperfect and individual. Schneider's works are explorations of the textures, colors, and forms that we find in the natural world all around us. Nature, in its inherent variations and forms is always changing, always developing, and is a perfect illustration for this concept. Summer's End opens at Brushwood Center's gallery on August 6, from 1-3pm.

Free. No registration required. Exhibition runs August 6 - September 24, 2017. More info at: http://www.brushwoodcenter.org/Programs/Art/ArtExhibitions/SummersEnd.html.
