Registration open for COD Food Truck Rally, 5K

Registration is now open for the 2017 College of DuPage Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K on Saturday, Sept. 23. Proceeds benefit COD student scholarships.

The Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K features more than a dozen Chicago and DuPage mobile eateries that will be open from 2 to 7:30 p.m. In addition, a Kid Zone will host family activities from noon to 5 p.m., including a variety of games, face painting and Touch-a-Truck, where emergency vehicles, grounds equipment and tractor-trailers will be on hand for children to explore.

The 100-Yard Youth Dash begins at 4 p.m. on the football stadium track with three divisions: ages 4 to 5, 6 to 7, and 8 to 9. The Sunset 5K will begin at 5 p.m. and features a CARA- and USATF-certified course.

Advance general registration is $15 for individuals through Monday, July 31; $5 for currently enrolled COD students and $10 for ages 5 to 12 and seniors older than 60. CARA members receive a $5 discount. The registration fee for the 100-Yard Youth Dash is $5. See the full registration fee schedule online at cod.edu/5K.

Sunset 5K awards include a $200 Visa gift card for the top overall male and female racers and the "Middle of the Pack" winner, with all 5K participants receiving a finisher medal and entry into a raffle for an iPad.

Race participants can register individually or as a team. Prizes are awarded for the fastest team and the "Luck of the Draw." All 5K race participants receive a short-sleeved technical T-shirt in a drawstring backpack.

All proceeds from the event help provide scholarships for students. Each high school district served by College of DuPage will have a dedicated scholarship for a graduate who attends COD. When registering, participants can designate which district will receive the funds.
