NorthWest Sailing Association to offer tips on good seamanship July 17

All are welcome to join the NorthWest Sailing Association's monthly club meeting. The meetings are held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Historical Society in the aft Meeting Room located at 110 W. Fremont St. in Arlington Heights.

On Monday, July 17, members Ken Butterly and John Pasch will talk about sail trim, control, and maneuvering, plus a bit of good rules-of-the-road information, for part two of the "Themed-Sails" program.

If you are new to sailing or among the many recent new members who aren't quite sure how all this stuff works: such as, "What's a leeward boat?" "What's the difference between a tack and a gybe, anyway?," you should attend the July meeting, and then aboard one of our willing skippers' boats, learning and practicing the skills of good seamanship.

The NorthWest Sailing Association is an enthusiastic group of sailors living in and about Chicago's Northwest suburbs. They share a quest for increased knowledge and improved seamanship in a spirit of camaraderie and fun.

Members include families, couples, singles - anyone interested in sailing. This includes skippers with large cruising boats, daysailers, trailerables, even those with no boats, but an interest in or a love of sailing. Ample opportunities to crew are available at each sailing event and during the days between events.
