Oakton alumni to host Schaumburg Boomers outing

Alumni and friends of Oakton Community College are invited to a night of America's pastime and camaraderie at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 22, as the Schaumburg Boomers host the Gateway Grizzlies at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg.

"This is a great opportunity for Oakton alumni and community members to enjoy an evening of baseball and family-friendly activities," says Oakton manager of Development & Alumni Relations Elena Couto.

"Our Chicago Wolves alumni outing earlier this year was such a hit that we want to continue offering shared experiences that bring people together, propelling us forward as a stronger community."

On July 22, the Boomers will be hosting "Superhero Night," honoring fictional and real-life community heroes. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed for a pregame costume parade and contest. After the contest, fans will have the opportunity to run the bases and enjoy a fireworks display.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children younger than 10. Children 2 and younger will be admitted free. Admission includes parking, hot dog and soda, along with a chance to win a Fire Tablet HD8.

To attend, visit the Oakton Alumni website, www.oakton.edu/alumni, or call (847) 635-1893. Purchased tickets will be made available at the Boomers box office, which opens at 10 a.m. on game day. The outing is sponsored by the Oakton Alumni Council and open to all.

"This event is bound to be a home run for all those who come out," adds Couto. "It's going to be a fun night and an opportunity for fellowship and networking."

In the event of severe weather or cancellation, tickets may be exchanged for another remaining regular season home game, based on availability.
