Fine arts show winners showcased

An estimated 35,000 people attended the 19th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show over Memorial Day weekend in downtown St. Charles, presented by STC Capital Bank. The juried fine art show featured artists in various mediums.

As supporters of the arts, STC Capital held a "Celebration of the Arts" on Friday evening at Mixology Salon Spa/116 Gallery to showcase last year's Fine Art Show winners. During the celebration, STC Capital Bank awarded scholarships to six children from the community for extensive art classes throughout the summer at All Things Art Studio.

Artist award winners include

Best of Show:

Lynn and Steve Cebula, mixed media. The Best in Show winner is currently being exhibited in 116 Gallery in downtown St. Charles where their music-themed abstracts in wood, acrylic and resin are available to view and may be purchased.

Awards of Excellence:

Keith Lackner, wood; Teresa DeVer, fine art jewelry; Feng Biddle, painting; Robert Slater, fine art jewelry; Andria Burchett, drawing/illustration; and Sarena Mann, mixed media.

A multitude of artist demonstrations took place throughout the weekend, with this year's feature tent by All Things Art Studio supplying crafts for kids of all ages, sponsored by Dayspring Pediatric Dentistry. The Feature Tent showcased a wide variety of children's art projects and crafts. Also, heard throughout the show was music performed by musical entertainers in the Music Tent, sponsored by Neri Landscaping.

Another popular attraction was the Downtown Historic Trolley Tour, sponsored by Gerald Kia of North Aurora, which gave people insight and perspective into the architecture and history of downtown St. Charles' landmark buildings and homes.

The 2017 St. Charles Fine Art Show was organized by the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, with the dedication of its volunteers, the Fine Art Show Committee and day-of-event volunteers. Each of them supported by the Volunteer Tent Sponsor, BMO Harris Bank. Volunteers were all donning handy aprons supplied by the Volunteer Apparel Sponsor, AHC Advisors Inc.
