Wolf Pack Youth Hockey program granted $20,000

The Hoffman Estates Park District was awarded a $20,000 grant from Jewel-Osco and Kraft-Heintz for its Wolf Pack youth hockey development program.

HE Parks was nominated by Schaumburg resident and Jewel shopper Heather Kubinski. Shoppers who purchased Kraft-Heinz products received a code to enter for their chance to win $20,000 to be donated to the community ice rink of their choice and a $500 Jewel gift card for themselves.

Kubinski learned in the spring that she and the ice arena had won.

HE Parks intends to use the grant money to purchase new hockey equipment, teaching equipment for hockey lessons, for sponsorships to assist families with financial needs and for grass-roots development in the game of hockey.

"We are thrilled to receive this grant," said Mike Kies, director of Recreation and Facilities for HE Parks.

"Youth sports programs are so beneficial to the kids in our community, and our Wolf Pack program is a wonderful community of parents and players. We are excited to be able to invest in and grow this program."
